Refund Policy

Full Membership Share + Yearly Maintenance

We offer full refunds within the first 3 days of joining. After this period, refunds will no longer be available as all membership proceeds are reinvested into the expansion of Fare Co-op, covering costs such as marketing & PR, app development, airport fees, insurance, and other operational expenses.

If you choose to cancel after 3 days, your refund will be processed only when we achieve profitability or secure additional investment funding.

Think of this as a business partnership—your contribution supports the growth of a company you co-own and benefit from long-term.

For members unable to continue driving due to unforeseen circumstances, refund requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis by the Federation.

Subscription Towards Full Share Ownership
  • No refunds will be issued for subscription payments.
  • If you discontinue payments within the first 12 months, you will not be eligible for a share.
  • If you stop paying the $50/month maintenance fee after the first year, your share will revert to its original purchase value, and your compensation will be downgraded to 55%.
  • To restore your higher compensation level, you must catch up on all missed maintenance fee payments.

We understand that individual circumstances may vary, and exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need to pay to drive for your company?

Firstly, we are not a company. We’re a driver majority-owned multi-stakeholder cooperative, where a large group of drivers came together to create a better alternative, where the voices of all drivers are being heard. This original group of hundreds of drivers in California, who purchased their co-op memberships, is what allowed us to purchase the insurance and TNC license to launch in California. For those of you interested in trying our app without paying, we have a free membership option where you get 55% of the fares (after insurance, tax and credit card fee), with no share (compared to 85-90% of the fare for member-owners). Free members who have driven with us for a month and would like to become members, would be able to purchase their membership based on the market price.

How can I advertise Fare to my customers?

We have a marketing package available here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ARNSdB7FFx45n82LIomHNSMcHjbmXaYD?usp=sharing
To edit and add your referral code, use Adobe Acrobat Pro (free trial): https://www.adobe.com/acrobat/free-trial-download.html

I am not in California. When will you launch in my state?

As soon as we have enough drivers signed up in your state, we will start a membership drive at $100 per membership, which will go towards purchasing the rideshare insurance and license(s) we need in your state to go live. For a partial list of membership requirements in most states, please see above.

I want to do food delivery. When will you launch the food delivery in my city?

We are aiming to launch the food delivery, in any city where we have at least 50 restaurants, within a month after launching the rideshare there, to ensure that we have enough drivers available. In the meantime, you still have the option to deliver packages through our rideshare app!

How can I help launch Fare and FareEats in my city faster?

Whether you’re a driver, or a passenger, or a business, you can help by referring more people to the platform, today! If you’re a driver, share your referral code (found in your app menu under Referral) with other drivers, customers and businesses to have them register under you, and earn commissions every time they complete an order! Watch our referral video for more information.

Do I need my own commercial insurance to drive with Fare?

In California, we already purchased commercial insurance for all our members with full coverage for periods 1-3. In other states, we do not currently have insurance and if you are a private-for-hire driver with your own commercial or fleet insurance, you are eligible to book rides through our app.

Can I use my current vehicle inspection that I submitted to Uber/Lyft?

Yes, you can. We accept any valid vehicle inspections from certified mechanics, as long as they have been completed within the last 12 months. If you need to complete a vehicle inspection, you can download the inspection form here.

How old can my car be for me to be able to offer rides with Fare?

The car must generally be 15 years old or newer. So, in 2024, this means your vehicle should be from 2009 or newer.

Why am I not getting rides?

Fare Co-op is a rideshare service that’s very different from both Uber and Lyft. Their model considers you to be independent contractors but really you are not. They do provide the ride requests but that’s all they do and you are at their mercy if and when they choose to deactivate your account.
In other words you are just really an employee in their eyes and you can see that by the way they treat you and how much of the fare they take and what little they give you.
They are investing in themselves and not you the driver without who they have no business.
It is also important to realize that they will soon kick you off their platform when they get all their autonomous vehicles rolling then what are you going to do? Fare Co-op is really your business because you are a part owner in it and as such you have to help build up the business, this is why the referral program is so important. We do this by referring other drivers and passengers alike, this is the only way to secure rides and build your own business with your own clientele by referring passengers and having them save you as their favorite driver.
We are not Uber and Lyft, this is all about building your own business and doing what actually works for many drivers. This is what ownership means. We are not like YRide where you pay $150 a month in subscriptions, get no ownership and still have to bring your own passengers. Here you’re an actual owner and get 85% of the earnings and benefit from the growth in the value of your share as the business continues to grow. At the end of the day we want to be the owners of the autonomous vehicles and have those vehicles working for us and not replacing us like Uber and Lyft is getting ready to do to us shortly. We have to make the business successful by converting our passengers from Uber and Lyft that we have in our back seats every day. You have to convert them over to Fare Co-op by having them sign up with your referral code and ask them to make you their favorite driver so you get first choice for picking them up when they make a request. That is how other drivers have been extremely successful with us and when other passengers who have been referred by other drivers request rides and they are not available to pick them up, then it goes to the driver who is closest to that rider. But you still end up earning referral commissions every time your customer rides with us.
We encourage our drivers to learn from the experience of others who have been successful on our app, getting 10-15 rides a day after referring 100+ customers. If you refer 15-20 customers a day that you get from Uber and Lyft and do this over the course of 2 weeks, you are guaranteed to keep yourself busy from your referrals. Just think of how Lyft became Lyft thanks to all those drivers who put in the work to convert their passengers from Uber. We’re doing the same thing, except here you earn residual income for life, not just one time.
This is the strategy we’ve been using since day one and have been encouraging our drivers to learn from those who have been successful on our app, which truly allows you to build your own business and your own customer base. We’re more than happy to put you in touch with other drivers who can share their positive experience with you and encourage you to take advantage of the many benefits of our platform, as this is the only solution for the driverless vehicles out there that actually secures the future of drivers.
